John Howard Griffin created a stirrup in the states after his book was published. Griffin received hate from people everywhere whites and blacks. There was an instance of an effigy of him burning in his hometown during all the chaos. However, his story inspired a woman so profoundly that she wanted to recreate his experiment from a female point of view. After reaching out Griffin and being granted his permission she conducted her own journey from White to Black. Grace Halsell wrote Soul Sister depicting her journey through similar scenarios of John Howard Griffin. She even underwent the transition from Black to Native American to document the mistreatment of all minority groups.
